This Code of Conduct outlines the principles and standards that guide our employees, journalists, contributors, freelancers, and all individuals associated with the Company in their professional conduct.
We are committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and accountability in line with the Press Council of India’s Norms of Journalistic Conduct, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and other applicable laws in India.
1. Accuracy and Truthfulness
- We strive to report facts accurately and verify information from multiple reliable sources before publication.
- Errors, if any, will be promptly corrected with transparency, and clarifications or apologies issued where necessary.
- Opinions and analysis will be clearly distinguished from news reports.
2. Fairness and Impartiality
- We maintain neutrality and present all sides of a story without bias.
- No favoritism will be shown based on political, religious, caste, community, or personal affiliations.
- We avoid sensationalism and ensure balanced coverage, especially on sensitive issues.
3. Privacy and Dignity
- We respect individuals’ right to privacy and will not intrude unnecessarily.
- Personal information or images of individuals (especially victims, minors, or private citizens) will not be published without valid public interest or consent.
- We comply fully with data protection laws and safeguard sources’ confidentiality where promised.
4. Integrity and Independence
- We reject bribes, gifts, favors, or any inducements that could compromise editorial independence.
- Paid content, advertisements, or sponsored material will be clearly labeled as such (e.g., “Sponsored,” “Advertisement,” or “Promoted”).
- Journalists will disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
5. Non-Discrimination and Sensitivity
- We do not promote hatred, violence, or discrimination based on caste, religion, gender, sexual orientation, region, language, or disability.
- Reporting on communal, caste-based, or gender-sensitive issues will be handled with utmost care to avoid inflaming tensions.
- Language used will be respectful and free from stereotypes.
6. Protection of Sources
- Confidentiality of sources will be protected unless required by law or court order.
- Anonymous sources will be used sparingly and only when essential for public interest.
7. Conduct in Digital and Social Media
- Employees and contributors representing the Company on personal or official social media will adhere to the same ethical standards.
- No dissemination of unverified information, fake news, or misinformation.
- Official social media accounts will be managed responsibly and in alignment with this Code.
8. Compliance with Law
- We adhere to all applicable laws, including defamation, contempt of court, copyright, and broadcasting/digital media regulations.
- Content involving minors will strictly follow legal guidelines and ethical norms.
9. Internal Accountability
- Violations of this Code will be addressed through internal mechanisms, including warnings, training, or disciplinary action up to termination.
- Employees are encouraged to report concerns confidentially to the Editorial Head or designated Ethics Committee.
